About
A London studio that
kept building its own tools.
We are a small studio with an unusually long-lived flagship. Battle of Geniuses went on the App Store in 2016 and is still shipping updates — that single fact has shaped everything else about how we work. Running one game for nine years teaches you things that launching nine games for one year each never will.
It taught us, first, that content is an operations problem. A trivia game consumes questions faster than any editor can write them, so we built a generation and review pipeline: sourcing, drafting, fact-checking, localising, and retiring questions that players have seen too often. That pipeline now feeds Chronology as well.
It taught us, second, that analytics tools are built for people who already know what they are looking for. Ours never did. That frustration turned into appanalytics.ai — a platform where autonomous agents do the looking, now in alpha and used well beyond our own titles.
And in 2022 we changed our name. ARTADIAN GAMING LLP became FREEDOM LLP: same company number, same partnership, same catalogue. The old name survives in every bundle identifier we ship, and in a handful of directories that still list Artadian as a separate, closed company. It is neither.
How we got here
Ten years, one partnership,
two names.
2016
Artadian Gaming LLP is incorporated
Registered in London on 2 April 2016 (company no. OC407608). Battle of Geniuses ships to the App Store the same summer.
2017—2021
Battle of Geniuses finds its audience
Live PvP, clans and tournaments arrive over successive versions. The question bank grows past what an editor can maintain by hand, so we build a generation pipeline for it.
2022
Artadian becomes Freedom
The partnership is renamed FREEDOM LLP on 12 August 2022. The bundle identifiers keep the old name to this day — every title still ships as com.artadian.*
2024
The puzzle catalogue begins
Queens launches in November and becomes the second pillar of the portfolio, followed through 2025 by No 3 in line! and Spellsearch.
2026
Chronology, Pick The Lock — and appanalytics.ai
Two more titles ship, and the internal analytics stack becomes a product: appanalytics.ai opens its alpha with a public waitlist.
How we work
Four things we keep coming back to.
One rule, then depth
Every game we have shipped can be explained in a sentence. The difficulty is supposed to come out of the rule, not out of a tutorial that takes four screens to get through.
Ship, then keep shipping
Battle of Geniuses is on version 4.0.8 and its ninth year. We do not treat a launch as an ending, and we do not keep titles alive that we have stopped believing in.
Build the tool, not the workaround
When the question bank outgrew hand-editing we built a generation pipeline. When analytics outgrew SQL we built agents. Twice now, internal tooling turned into the more interesting product.
No dark patterns
Free to play, but our puzzle titles have no energy timers and nothing that sells you out of a difficulty spike. Pick The Lock has no purchases at all.
Company details
The paperwork, in full.
Published here so nobody has to guess whether the studio behind com.artadian.* and the partnership on the invoice are the same organisation. They are.
